Basting services for hand quilters $0.015 per square inch.
4 stitches per inch, basted approximately every 6 inches
My minimum quilting charge is $50. This means that the square inch price for a small quilt, table runner or basting services will be rounded up to the $50 minimum.
Batting
Batting is a separate charge and is NOT included in the square inch price above.
I use and stock the following Quilters Dream batting.
Quilters Dream Cotton – 100% cotton in natural, select loft, natural and white
Quilters Dream 80/20 – 80% Cotton, 20% polyester
Quilters Dream Wool - Wool
I can special order any other type of Quilters Dream batting (100% Poly, Bamboo, Black, etc)
I charge for batting by the size of your project. I will use only what is needed for your quilt (quilt top + a 8" margin).
For example, if you have a 60" x 80" quilt, I would use twin size batting (93x72)
100% cotton select loft = $24.25
80/20 cotton/poly blend = $22.00
Wool = $29.30
Thread
I use Glide thread (#40 weight). I don't charge any extra fees for thread use, it's included in your square inch price.
Binding
Please provide enough material for 2.5" of binding.
Attaching the binding to the top of the quilt by machine is $0.10 per linear inch.
Attaching the binding to the top and back by machine is $0.20 per linear inch.
Attaching the binding to the top of the quilt by machine and hand stitching the back is $0.30 per linear inch
Trimming the quilt so it is ready for you to bind is $15.00.
To calculate linear inches, add the length and width of the quilt, then multiply by 2. For example, a quilt that is 60x80 would be (60+80)x2 = 280 linear inches
Prep Work
This includes trimming threads, ironing, stitching open seams
$25 per hour
Shipping
Shipping your top and backing to me: I live in Colorado, USA, and would be happy to receive your top and backing by mail. I'd recommend sending your materials enclosed in some kind of bag to protect against possible moisture in transit and then placed in a hard-sided cardboard box. Make sure the box is securely taped and labeled clearly.
Return shipping: I will send your quilt back to you in the manner described above via USPS Priority mail (using flat rate when possible/economical). The return shipping charge will be added to your invoice.
Priority mail comes with $50 of insurance and a tracking number but please indicate on your intake form if you would like me to buy any additional insurance on your behalf. It's a great idea to insure your valuables against loss or damage while with the Postal Service, but I don't require it.
Other Costs
As mentioned above, batting is not included in the square inch price.
I'm required by the State of Colorado to collect sales tax on the batting portion of an invoice. Batting, shipping, and any design/pantograph fees are not subject to sales tax if outside the state of Colorado.
